Halcion Dosage and Administration

For acquiring the maximum benefits and effects and to help in avoiding the significant adverse effects, it is advised to individualize the Halcion Dosage.

In adult patient Halcion Dosage of 0.25 mg is recommended before retiring. Patients with low body weight may only require a Halcion Dosage of 0.125mg.  Halcion Dosage of 0.5 mg should be used only for exceptional patients. Halcion Dosage more than 0.5 mg is not recommended since the risk of several adverse reactions increases with the size of the dose.

A Halcion Dosage of 0.125 mg to 0.25 mg is advised in geriatric and/or debilitated patients. An initial dosage of 0.125 mg is recommended for these kinds of patients.  A higher Halcion Dosage of 0.25 mg dose should be used only for exceptional patients who do not respond to a trial of the 0.125 mg.

Some Nervous system halicon side effects have been reported in rare cases of patients, using  Halcion Dosage,  which included drowsiness, dizziness, and headache.  Sleep disturbances, morning “hang-over” symptoms, hyperexcitability, confusion, amnesia, and ataxia, Anterograde amnesia and transient global amnesia have also been observed. Triazolam may cause a greater degree of sedation and psychomotor impairment in older patients than in younger patients.

In a study of elderly versus younger subjects who received Halcion dosage at the same levels (0.125 mg and 0.25 mg), the elderly experienced both greater sedation and impairment of psychomotor performance.

Call your doctor immediately if you feel any severe allergic reactions such as rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue aggressiveness; chest pain; fast heartbeat; hallucinations; increased anxiety; memory loss; mental or mood changes; new or worsening depression; shortness of breath; slurred speech; suicidal thoughts; unusual thoughts or behavior; urinary changes; vision changes; worsening trouble sleeping; yellowing of the eyes or skin.

Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredient in Halcion or to other benzodiazepines. Some medicines may interact with Halcion such as Rifampin, Clozapine, Sodium oxybate, Anticonvulsants (eg, phenytoin, phenobarbital) or antihistamines, Amiodarone, azole antifungals, calcium channel blocker, cimetidine, cyclosporine, delavirdine, efavirenz, ergot alkaloids (eg, ergotamine), fluvoxamine, HIV protease inhibitors isoniazid, ketolides (eg, telithromycin), macrolides, nefazodone, omeprazole, ranitidine, or valproic acid . All the above may increase the risk of Halcion’s side effects . Contact your doctor right away if you have any doubts about the use of Halcion Dosage.
